Teach Me How To Sew

I had a lot of ideas for my first post but this one took the cake.

My mom wanted me to teach her how to sew, and for those of you who know me are probably already laughing. Never in a million years did I think that I would own, use, and like having a sewing machine, but I do. I also, never thought that anybody would ever ask me to help them sew, but it happened. My mom got a sewing machine for Christmas and wanted to learn, so she asked me.

In January we went to Joann's to get other essential sewing items such as a rotary cutter. I showed her the one that I had and told her that I was really happy with it. It was also about $15 cheaper than the high end one.

Later that month she came over and was cutting out material for a project she is working on. I kept telling her to be really careful of the blade because it is really sharp, but she never seemed to hear me. After she was done cutting material she said she was going to take her rotary cutter back and get the "sharper" one. I couldn't believe it because the one we have is so sharp, and I really didn't think that the more expensive one could be any sharper, just more comfortable. So, this past Sunday she asked if I would come over and teach her how to sew. I said yes; went over there and I was laying stuff out and she was cutting more fabric when she said "I just cut myself. That is really sharp." I said "I know" and went back to doing what I was doing when my mom said "I need to go get a bandaid this is just gushing" so I looked at as she passed and she had cut from an inch below her thumb pretty much all the way across the backside of her hand. It was bleeding so bad the bandaid didn't work so we had to double up a gauze pad and tape it down with the pink medical tape.

I have not laughed that hard in a very long time. And she wanted the "sharper one".

  1. Only mom would think the more expensive one is better and sharper. I am glad you have joined the blogging world.
